Breaking Down the Mat: Week of June 29, 2020

A list of everything you'll need for your virtual Stages class this week!

THIS WEEK'S SCHEDULE:

Haven't enrolled yet? Visit stageschicago.com

BROADWAY & ME

  • COMPUTER, IPHONE, IPOD, IPAD, TABLET, ETC.

  • BUBBLES AND/OR BUBBLE MACHINE

  • CLEAN-UP BIN: Hampers, Tupperware, Baskets, or Ikea Bags work great!

  • CASTANETS: Help us keep the beat! We'll be using castanets but any blocks, drums, shakers or any percussive instrument works! Wondering what a percussive instrument is? It's an instrument that keeps a beat rather than playing a melody.

  • TRAINS: Grab a toy train or even an airplane!

  • PIGGY BANK SHAKER: Don't have a piggy bank shaker? You can make one with some rice, some pennies, and a water bottle or tupperware container! Needing to keep it simple this week? Reuse your percussion instrument!

  • SHAKER MARACAS: Don't have a shaker maraca? You can make one with some rice and a water bottle or tupperware container (just like the Piggy Bank Shaker)! Needing to keep it simple this week? Any instrument your child can control will do! Try to avoid toy instruments that are battery operated and atomically play music.

First Class? Make sure to check out our Blog Post on tips and tricks to making your virtual class a success! Here's the link!

BROADWAY MINI-STARS

  • COMPUTER, IPHONE, IPOD, IPAD, TABLET, ETC.

  • A CROWN or something that makes you feel royal!

BROADWAY LITTLE STARS

  • COMPUTER, IPHONE, IPOD, IPAD, TABLET, ETC.

  • PERCUSSION INSTRUMENT: Something they can use to keep the beat: castanet, drum, shaker, etc.)

BROADWAY STARS + STAGES

  • COMPUTER, IPHONE, IPOD, IPAD, TABLET, ETC.

  • ROOM TO MOVE with a table or counter nearby to put your electronic device on. We want to be able to see you!

  • A PRIVATE SPACE Please find a quiet, private place for your child to participate in our virtual classes. Video conferencing can be difficult if there's too much going on in the background and we know some of our K-8 friends don't like when moms, dads, caregivers, and siblings watching them practice. 😉
